Match preview

Luis Suarez will be looking to add West Ham United to his list of Barclays Premier League goalscoring victims when they travel to Liverpool on Saturday.

The Uruguayan has not scored against the London club in two appearances, making Sam Allardyce's men one of only four current top-flight clubs to have shut out the in-form striker.
Southampton, Cardiff City and Hull City make up the trio, although Suarez has only faced the newly promoted Yorkshire and Welsh clubs once each – in last Sunday's 3-1 reverse at the KC Stadium and the 2012 League Cup final.

Club and player responded to their disappointment at Hull in stunning fashion on Wednesday, with Suarez, who was carrying a minor calf injury into the game, scoring four goals of the highest quality as Norwich City were thrashed 5-1 at Anfield.

He opened the scoring with a dipping half-volley from 40 yards, before tucking home Philippe Coutinho's corner and lashing in another superb strike from distance to complete his hat-trick in the first half.

A swerving long-range free-kick completed the 26-year-old’s haul after the break, and he rounded off a mesmerising evening by laying on Raheem Sterling's fifth.

Suarez's continued form is crucial for Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, who will be without Daniel Sturridge until the New Year due to an ankle injury, but the Barclays Premier League's top scorer – with 13 goals to his name – is expecting the whole team to contribute in the England man's absence.

"The responsibility is with the squad," Suarez explained. "I know I am the striker and I'll try for the team. But I think that we have so many players who can help the team going forward. We'll miss Daniel, but we'll try to do well without him."

Full-back Jose Enrique (knee) remains unavailable for Liverpool, who will not have to face record-signing Andy Carroll, despite his return to West Ham training after a foot injury.

The striker has not played all season, and Allardyce has stressed he does not expect the 26-year-old to make an appearance before the turn of the year.

West Ham will also be without the suspended midfielder Ravel Morrison and the injured defender Winston Reid (ankle), while forward Mladen Petric (calf) is a doubt.

The Londoners have not won at Anfield in 50 years, and failed to score on each of their last five trips – although two of those games have ended 0-0.
