Problem watching stream via vlc

Hello.

I discovered recently I can watch streams via vlc, which I already have installed. On Sunday I tried to give this a go with little success using various Redzone streams. According to the software instructions on Wiziwig I just copy the url, launch vlc, click network stream and paste in the link and click play. This I did but nothing happens.

I thought maybe I had to click stream instead but after going through the steps. This was setting it up for me to stream to other devices. When all I want to do is watch a stream via vlc. So do I have to configure vlc before hand, if so what do I need to do?

Any tips, advice would be great.
