Match preview:

Mauricio Pochettino will lock horns with former employers Southampton on Sunday for the first time since leaving for Tottenham Hotspur.
The Argentine tactician spent 16 months at St Mary’s, helping the Saints to a top-half finish in the Premier League before accepting an offer from White Hart Lane over the summer.
Spurs turned to the South American in an effort to bring stability back to their managerial post, following a period of unsettling change, and to return the club to their footballing principles.
Pochettino made a positive start to his tenure, overseeing back-to-back victories, but is now looking to snap out of a four-match winless run heading into the international break.

In contrast, Southampton are flying and will head to north London looking to cement their lofty standing.
Those who forecast trouble on the south coast following a summer of comings and goings on and off the field have been silenced by a run of four straight wins and the best defensive record in the division.

Team stats:

Southampton’s total of 13 points from six games is their best since claiming 14 in 1983-84.
Spurs have lost their last two home Premier League games. The last time they lost three in a row on home soil was in September 2008 under Juande Ramos.

The 19 players to have made a Premier League appearance for Southampton this season are made up of 14 different nationalities; the most diverse of PL teams.
Ronald Koeman, in his first Premier League post, has the club sat second in the table and believing that an improvement on last season’s 8th place finish could be on the cards.
The Saints do, however, have a poor record against Spurs – losing their last four and collecting just two victories from their previous 15 Premier League visits to White Hart Lane.

Team news:

Tottenham are likely to make a number of changes to the side which drew 1-1 with Besiktas in Europa League competition on Thursday, with fresh legs welcomed back into the fold.
Christian Eriksen was among those left out in midweek, while Emmanuel Adebayor, Erik Lamela and club captain Younes Kaboul will be pushing for recalls to the starting XI.
Danny Rose and Etienne Capoue are expected to shake off knocks in time to figure on Sunday, but Kyle Walker is still nursing his way back from abdominal surgery.

Ronald Koeman believes Southampton are capable are finishing in the top four of the Premier League this season
Southampton are likely to be without James Ward-Prowse for around three months after seeing him undergo an operation on his fractured foot.
England forward Jay Rodriguez is another long-term absentee after damaging knee ligaments towards the end of last season.
Defender Maya Yoshida and striker Sam Gallagher may come into contention, though, and offer Koeman important options.
