Benfica may be halfway towards claiming an historic quadruple but coach Jorge Jesus insists there will be no favourites when his charges cross swords with Sevilla in Wednesday's Europa League final.

The Lisbon club have already wrapped up this season's Portuguese Liga and League Cup titles but still greater glory awaits, with the unprecedented achievement of four major honours very much a realistic prospect after a stellar campaign.

They play Rio Ave in the final of the Portuguese Cup next weekend, but for now attention remains entirely on bringing a successful end to their European adventure in Turin.

"I think neither side will go into the final as favourites - we both have a 50/50 chance of winning," Jesus told uefa.com. "You have to be really good to reach a final, and I have a great deal of respect for this Sevilla side who will compete in the final with us. They have every right to win this competition outright."

Benfica are the first side to reach a Europa League final without losing a game, having won six and drawn two of their eight games since dropping into the competition from the Champions League, but history in Europe is not on their side.

You have to go back to 1962 for Benfica's last continental title - the second of back-to-back European Cup wins - since when the Lisbon giants have had no end of chances to add to their tally.

The came up short in European Cup finals in 1963, 1965, 1968, 1988 and 1990, while in 1983 they were beaten in their first UEFA Cup final.

More than two decades passed before Benfica returned to another European final as they progressed to last season's Europa League showpiece in Amsterdam, when they were defeated 2-1 by Chelsea in agonising circumstances, Branislav Ivanovic heading the winner in the third minute of stoppage time.

A 2-1 win over Juventus in the semi-finals this time around has earned Benfica a chance at redemption, but that result 12 months ago is not lost on Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic, who believes it could ultimately be of benefit to his side.

"Benfica may have more experience but they are not favourites," he told Kicker magazine. "They lost the final of the Europa League last year and we must press them, make them nervous."

Another fact in Sevilla's favour is Benfica's lamentable form against Spanish opposition, with their winless run against teams from their Iberian neighbour stretching back 32 years and 14 games.

While Benfica were latecomers to this year's Europa League, Sevilla have been in the mix from the outset, beginning in the third qualifying round last summer.

Wednesday's final will be their 19th game of the campaign, but it is match 18 that will live long in the memory for many of their fans, with Stephane Mbia's dramatic stoppage-time winner sending Sevilla through to the final 3-3 on away goals at the expense of Spanish rivals Valencia.

That enthralling night at the Mestalla means Sevilla remain on track to win the trophy they also lifted in 2006 and 2007, and their top scorer in this season's competition, Kevin Gameiro, is looking forward to the occasion.

"We'll give everything from the first minute to the last," he told uefa.com. "We will enjoy the moment and try to win the final, because we will not be going to Turin just to watch Benfica play.

"We know that it's very important for our club: they've won it twice before and we will try to win the third one.

"Benfica will give everything, just like us. They won't give up. Last year they reached the final and lost. It will be revenge for them to try and win."

Benfica will be without suspended duo Eduardo Salvio and Enzo Perez, while Silvio is out with a knee injury and Ljubomir Fejsa is a doubt with a foot problem.

Jairo Samperio is banned for Sevilla, while Denis Cheryshev (foot) and Sebastian Cristoforo (knee) are injured and Vitolo is struggling with a hamstring problem.
